CBRE

After 30 years in London House, in 2016 CBRE signed a 10-year lease at level 25 within the QV1 Building. This lease commitment commenced the agency’s transition to roll out their global Workplace 360 design guidelines, an adoption of activity-based working in Perth.

The challenge

The Perth-based CBRE business had previously occupied a traditional office space for a long time, with all Directors allocated a private office and the balance of staff allocated space outside and around this built form. The impact of the longevity of occupying an office with this type of space planning was an aversion to change.

The transition to an open plan activity-based working model within a new building was the perfect opportunity to apply the agency’s new global design guidelines, however there were long-term Perth staff who were not yet convinced of the new ways of working.

Our solution

The engagement process required authentic listening and transparent and open dialogue to bring the Perth staff on the change journey. We hosted site visits throughout the construction phase which added to the excitement of what the change would offer.

The outcome of the project is a timeless office space that encompasses the best of open plan and activity-based working that exceeded the agency’s expectations and was the envy of every competitor. The power of the engagement process was a staff collective who felt the space was theirs to enjoy from day 1 of occupation.
